Riddara RD6 Econ Electric Pickup Teased, Nepal Launch Soon

Riddara has teased the RD6 Econ, a more accessible, all-electric variant of its RD6 pickup truck, for the Nepali market.

The RD6 Econ is already available in several Asian markets, including Thailand, Laos, Malaysia, and Pakistan, where it is positioned as a dual-purpose pickup for both commercial and private use.

The “Econ” badge—short for “Economic”—signals a focus on cost efficiency, alongside the usual benefits associated with electric vehicles. This could make it particularly relevant for Nepal, where demand for lower running-cost alternatives is gradually increasing.

While specifications for Nepal have yet to be confirmed, the RD6 Econ’s international configurations provide a clear reference point.

In terms of dimensions, the pickup measures 5,260 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,865 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,120 mm.

Ground clearance ranges between 220 mm and 225 mm, and wading depth is rated at 815 mm. The RD6 Econ supports a payload capacity of up to 1,160 kg and features a five-seat layout, with both standard and long-bed configurations offered in other markets.

In terms of powertrain, the RD6 Econ is available with multiple configurations. The 63 kWh rear-wheel-drive variant produces 245 PS (180 kW) and 309 Nm of torque, offering a claimed range of 369 km (NEDC) or 327 km (WLTP).

A larger 73 kWh rear-wheel-drive version retains the same output figures but extends the range to 443 km (NEDC) or 383 km (WLTP). A 73 kWh all-wheel-drive variant adds a dual-motor setup, delivering a combined 485 Nm of torque and a claimed range of 390 km (NEDC) or 350 km (WLTP).

Drive modes include Eco, Comfort, and Sport, while the all-wheel-drive version adds additional modes such as Snow, Mud, and Off-road.

The RD6 Econ uses a LFP battery across all variants. Charging support includes 6.6 kW AC and up to 100 kW DC fast charging, with charging times estimated at around 8 to 9.5 hours (AC) and approximately 30 minutes using DC fast charging. All variants also feature a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, allowing the vehicle to power external devices.

In Nepal, the standard RD6 lineup is already on sale, providing context for where the Econ variant could be positioned. The pickup is currently offered in three 4WD variants, priced at Rs 79.99 lakh, Rs 81.99 lakh, and Rs 82.99 lakh, while a 2WD version is available at Rs 66.99 lakh.

This suggests the RD6 Econ could be positioned below the current entry point, depending on final specifications and variant strategy. Further details, including official specifications and pricing for Nepal, are expected to be announced at a later date.
